Product Specifications: Explanation of Nominal Model Codes

When purchasing or customizing a pre-matched ball spline set, the coding rules for the nominal code are as follows:

Selection Example: KST 010 T2 N S 500 P1 - B2

  • KST: Spline outer cylinder type (Cylinder dustproof type)
  • 010: Nominal shaft diameter (Unit: mm)
  • T2: Number of ball rows (T2 for 2 rows / T3 for 3 rows)
  • N: Spline shaft accuracy (Q: Economy / N: Normal grade / H: High grade / P: Precision grade / SP: Super precision grade / UP: Ultra precision grade)
  • S: Spline shaft type (S: Solid spline shaft / K: Standard hollow spline shaft)
  • 500: Spline shaft length (Unit: mm)
  • P1: Preload grade (P0: With clearance / P1: No preload / P2: Light preload / P3: Medium preload)
  • B2: Number of outer cylinders (Omitted if 1; marked as B2 for 2)

  • Cylinder Dustproof Design: The KST series belongs to the cylinder dustproof type ball splines, featuring a compact outer cylinder structure equipped with dust seals and circulators.
  • High Load Capacity and High Rigidity: The ball rolling grooves of the outer cylinder are precision-ground and shaped with a Gothic 40° contact angle design. Under a large contact angle, it can withstand extremely high combined loads in both radial and torque directions, providing excellent torque and moment rigidity.
  • Zero-Backlash Transmission: By adjusting the preload method, the backlash in the rotational direction can be completely eliminated (achieving zero backlash), allowing the equipment to maintain precise indexing even under frequent forward and reverse operations.
  • High Speed and High Productivity: Featuring high sensitivity and effectively reducing energy waste, it can efficiently suppress vibrations and shocks during high-speed operation, making it a powerful transmission tool for achieving high-speed and high-productivity upgrades in equipment.
  • Compact and Space-Saving: Under the same shaft diameter, the rated load that a ball spline can withstand is more than ten times that of a conventional linear ball bushing. Therefore, it can replace complex mechanism designs and significantly reduce equipment installation space.
  • High-Quality Materials and Ultimate Wear Resistance: The shaft body and outer cylinder are selected from high-grade alloy steel (such as SCM440 / SUJ2). After professional heat treatment and quenching, the surface hardness reaches up to HRC58~62, ensuring ultimate wear resistance and durability during long-term operation.
  • Flexible Shaft Combinations: S-type precision solid spline shafts or K-type standard hollow spline shafts can be selected according to requirements. Hollow spline shafts are suitable for applications requiring piping, wiring, exhausting, or aiming for equipment weight reduction.
  • Simple Assembly without Ball Fall-out: The outer cylinder adopts a special anti-drop design. Even if the spline outer cylinder is removed from the spline shaft, the steel balls will not fall out, allowing the assembly, inspection, and maintenance of the equipment to be carried out with ease.
