Timing Pulleys and Belts Terminology and Parameters
The diagram shows a typical timing pulley and the related important parameters which will be used to explain the following terms.

(1) Pitch.
Pitch is the distance from the centre of one tooth to the centre of the adjacent tooth, measured on the pulley pitch circle (or sprocket wheel pitch circle) of the belt. When specifying the belt and timing pulley drive system, it should be set so that they have the same pitch, so that the belt and timing pulleys are a successful fit.
(2) Belt Pitch Circle
An imaginary circle formed from the node to the centre of the shaft.
(3) Outside diameter
The outermost surface of a synchronous pulley is the part of the pulley that is in direct contact with the underside of the belt when mingled. The diameter of this outermost surface is called the Outside Diameter and can be calculated using the following formula:
(4) Pitch diameter: The pitch diameter is the diameter that passes through the centre of the pulley.
The pitch diameter is the dimension of a straight line through the centre of the pulley to the pitch circle.
(5) Pitch Point: The point of tangency of the pitch circle of two meshed gears.
U = (outside diameter-pitch diameter) The distance from the sprocket wheel pitch circle to the outermost surface of the timing pulley.
(6) Speed ratio
As the name implies, the speed ratio is the ratio of the speed of the driven pulley (measured in revolutions per minute) to the speed of the active pulley. It can also be obtained by dividing the number of teeth of the large pulley by the number of teeth of the small pulley, as shown below:

With the growing demand for timing pulleys, the scale of suppliers is bound to expand. As a related industry, how can we create demand, enhance quality and improve manufacturing processes for our customers in this supply chain?
